The laboratory has been operating since 2001 as the Molecular Diagnostics Sector. In 2003, the unit was reorganized into the Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics.
Research Directions:
- Analysis of viral and bacterial genes and genomes using instrumental (sequencing, RFLP) and bioinformatics methods for:
· identification of primer regions
· study of phylogenetic relationships, pathogen evolution, and infection phylogeography
· investigation of structural organization features of nucleic acids - Investigation of molecular aspects of the epizootiology of viral, bacterial, and parasitic animal diseases
- Development of new and improvement of existing tools for monitoring infectious diseases and typing their pathogens based on PCR analysis
- Applied aspects of genomics and proteomics in molecular biotechnology of veterinary immunobiological preparations
- Detection and typing of bacterial infection pathogens using molecular-genetic methods
- Study of the genetic basis of microorganism resistance to antibacterial agents
- Epizootological monitoring of genital pathologies in animals of viral-bacterial etiology and development of diagnostic and preventive systems
- Improvement of existing and development of new, more effective, aseptic and antiseptic methods in the processes of semen collection, cryopreservation, and artificial insemination of cattle
- Sanitary and biological control of genetic resources (frozen semen and embryos) used for animal reproduction
Areas of Expertise: Molecular epizootiology, molecular diagnostics of viral and bacterial infections in animals, recombinant DNA biotechnology, animal reproduction.
