Research Areas:

  • Detection of antibodies against the causative agents of Newcastle disease and other paramyxoviruses, avian influenza, infectious laryngotracheitis, infectious bronchitis, Gumboro disease, reovirus infection, adenovirus infection, egg production drop syndrome, and duckling hepatitis (scope of accreditation certificate No. 2Н1327 in accordance with DSTU 17025:2006);
  • Detection of causative agents of Newcastle disease and other paramyxoviruses, avian influenza, infectious laryngotracheitis, infectious bronchitis, Gumboro disease, viral enteritis, pox, Marek’s disease, reovirus infection, adenovirus infection, egg production drop syndrome, and duckling hepatitis (scope of accreditation certificate No. 2Н1327 in accordance with DSTU 17025:2006);


  • Performing pathological autopsies for preliminary diagnosis (scope of accreditation certificate No. 2Н1327 in accordance with DSTU 17025:2006);
  • Conducting epizootiological monitoring of ortho- and paramyxoviruses among wild and domestic birds in Ukraine;
  • Identification of viral disease isolates in birds; determination of neuraminidase and hemagglutinin subtypes of influenza virus isolates; determination of paramyxovirus serotypes;
  • Establishing a final diagnosis of viral diseases in birds based on serological, virological, and molecular diagnostic studies;
  • Determining the pathogenicity of influenza virus and Newcastle disease virus isolates;
  • Creating and maintaining a collection of domestic isolates and reference strains of viral disease agents, as well as reference reagents;
  • Developing and producing test systems for the diagnosis of viral diseases in birds based on hemagglutination inhibition, immunodiffusion, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) methods;
  • Participation in international proficiency testing rounds for detecting viral disease agents, antibodies, and their genomes in birds;
  • Providing consulting services to veterinary laboratory specialists, conducting seminars and training sessions.
