Directions of scientific research:

  • study of the specifics for development of a system for the provision of innovations in the field of veterinary medicine and the development of a methodology for their transfer to production;
  • study of methodological approaches to marketing research in the field of veterinary medicine with the aim of improving the innovative activity of the NSC "IECVM", promoting and selling their products to the knowledge-intensive market;
  • monitoring of scientific research results in order to identify commercially useful objects of intellectual property;


  • conducting patent and market research through comprehensive analysis of information on technical solutions (inventions, utility models) for further market evaluation;
  • legal protection of intellectual property objects: establishment novelty objects of intellectual property, estimation of their inventive level and industrial suitability, determination of the level of technology (search of analogues, prototype);
  • preparation of documents packages for obtaining intellectual property protection documents: patents for invention or utility model, certificates for a sign for goods and services;
  • patent application from the filing date to receipt of the title of protection control;
  • registration of applications for inventions or utility models, study of relevant documents on methods of information retrieval, cooperation with expert bodies of the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property";


  • publication of the periodic interdepartmental thematic scientific collection "Veterinary Medicine", which is included in the list of professional publications in Ukraine and in the scientific and metric databases of RISC (since 2014);
  • publication of the periodical English edition "Journal for Veterinary Medicine, Biotechnology and Biosafety" (founded in 2015, since 2016 included in the list of professional publications of the SAC of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the field of veterinary and biological sciences, cited in the international scientific metrics databases Google Scholar, RISC (e-library) and Index Copernicus.

The Scientific Library is one of the leading information divisions in the system of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. It performs the function of scientific and information support of scientific research in the field of veterinary medicine.

The collection of the scientific library of the NSC "IECVM" is unique in its completeness and universal in content of domestic and foreign publications (from the XVIII to XXI centuries) on the problems of veterinary medicine, agriculture and related industries in 25 languages, the volume of which today exceeds 170 thousand units.

The information is provided in the form of domestic and foreign books, magazines, newspapers, collections of scientific papers, CD-ROM, as well as access to databases, both external and own generation.

Directions of scientific research:

  • study of informatics questions and library science in the field of veterinary medicine, namely:
    • information and analytical;
    • information and patent;
    • information management and marketing;
    • research on the history of agrarian science.
    • The problems of modern scientific research in these areas are formed at the junction of humanitarian (document-information), natural (veterinary, biological, agrarian) and computer industries.


The scientific library of the NSC "IECVM" carries out:

  • searching of documents in the ELC fund of the NSC "IECVM": on card catalogs and card indexes, bibliographic indexes and abstract journals, in databases of own generation;
  • searching for documents missing in the funds of the ELC of the NSC "IECVM";
  • ensuring users' access to the library stock and Internet resources;
  • selective dissemination of information (bibliographic and abstract) according to constantly acting user requests;
  • consultations and internships in library science, bibliography, modern information technologies;
  • systematization of documents by UDC;
  • thematic search for information in foreign and domestic databases;
  • compilation and editing of bibliographic indexes (lists) according to the thematic order of the user;
  • selection of thematic, bibliographic, factographic, clarifying references on veterinary medicine;
  • organization of information-mass events (information days, specialist days, thematic, anniversary exhibitions of literature);
  • consulting on modern forms of work with information both bibliographic and electronic.

Areas of expertise: library science, bibliography, documentation and information activities; history of science and technology of Ukraine.
